Yes! Trash Matters! Maybe we can get Elon Musk to load all of our garbage in one of his spaceships, shoot it into outer space, and land it on some other planet. It would be just like us to contaminate another world, too.

I do try to dispose of recycles properly. But I may be that gal who never mastered the “toddler’s game of match-the-shapes in a 3D puzzle.” Pictures and color coding do help. I am determined to respect my trash. Your article is a public service announcement itself!

Once again, always love your written words. I know we’ve discussed the balancing act of trying to negate the amount of plastic waste my job creates by doubling down in my ever day life, including the refusal of using synthetic fabrics or fast fashion products Let’s just say I dragged our two full recycling bins out today and restarted the coffee grown compost at work this morning for the first time in a few weeks and I’m glad I can at least get that routine back to normal.

Small blue dot in a Central Texas sea of red. Our small down does indeed have their own recycling center. But it's controversial because many consider it a con game. Either they don't want to pay the $50 per year fee to use it, or they don't believe the recyclables end up anywhere other than a landfill. The recycling center's future is uncertain. We recycle, but I'm beginning to think the key is reduce, reuse, and hope for the best.

Well I think we have to do both and I know a lot of folks don't believe it, but we really do recycle metals and plastics. Glass is harder. So yes I also try to reduce and reuse. Thanks for reading!

Love this and will be sharing but I hear the recycled stuff falls off the boats into the ocean and that the trucks just mix up the recycling with the trash anyway but I can't be sure as I am always at work trying to survive in the late stage capitalistic United Corporations of America....

That might vary depending on where you live. ( Japan is notorious for sorting and then dumping it all at sea.) In CA. the effort is real and the system is fairly functional though the citizenry is a problem as stated above. We gotta keep trying.

You are right. I was thinking that might have been because I was in Florida. I just moved to North Carolina and I'm not sure if it's any better here but we should at least try. By the way, my daughters (now 25 and 27) and I loved watching Sabrina, the Teenage Witch together. It is hilarious and everyone was so great in their roles. We still talk refer to it sometimes when we get together. Thank you for giving us the gift of laughter.

I love this. My city will only recycle #s1 & 2 plastics. There are 2 private sector companies that recycle other #ed plastics and glass but one needs rides in vehicles to do it. I’m often the one recycling house in my neighborhood. I wish others would consider recycling.

We have to keep being good examples and trying to get others to adopt the same practices. Worth it to keep trying. Glad you are on the case!
