Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE...As a 62 year old I might actually look "0ld" but I've got to say, I feel healthier and in better shape now than throughout all the decades preceding this one. And from 58 to 61 was pretty painful and I felt sorry for myself that no one had explained aging was going to be such a Sh** Show! Then I watched too many die from COVID, those close to me commit suicide, die from cancer or some other lovely aging disease (Parkinson's - I have to watch my Mother disintegrate daily) that I now am THRILLED to be 62 and plan to live until 109, thank you very much! Beth I LOVE your writing!!! ❤️❤️Nicole
I've heard people say 60 is the new 30. Well, I'm here to tell you that's just not true. 60 is today's 60, nothing else. I can't do what I did at 30 & have stopped trying. Heaven knows I should have stopped trying to do 30s acts before 50 hit, let alone 60! I will say that today's 60 folks do look much younger than 30, 40, even 60 years ago. We have better nutrition, better (easier?) jobs, better skin/sun protection, and finally, yes, more vanity, so we actually TRY to not look 60. It is a badge I wear proudly now. I remember when I was the young one in the work world, eager to learn from others. Now I'm not that person, so it's my time to give back & teach/tell what I know & if it helps, fantastic. If not, fantastic too!
Yes we are living well in our 60's but people around us are dying too and that can be confronting. I am grateful to be older. It is an adventure and a gift.
My friend from the time I was 6 months old died this year of a heart attack. Just got off the treadmill & basically dropped dead. Yes, we're dying too, but our generation may be the last one to live longer as today's "kids" are sitting more, working their bodies less & are much fatter. It's quite sad actually. Yes, being or getting old beats the alternative!
On we go!! Love this
