Wit and Wisdom by Beth Broderick I sent one just the other day: a texted photo of a can of green beans. My sister, Laura, knows exactly what that means, and her wife, Sarah, is now familiar with the practice as well. It means I am having a rough go, feeling blue or stressed, or just downright cranky. It means that the only solace I can find in the immediate is a comfort meal that both Laura and I gravitate toward in times of unease.
Thank you for this message today. I have comfort foods but also gluten really effects my joints and inflammation. This made me smile. The sight of that can is comforting. lol.
Turning 65 didn’t bother me all that much. It bothers me that it was over 8 years ago. No, not really. Like you, I feel most fortunate. I will admit accumulating decades has left me with structural damages to be sure, some repairable, others not so much. But length of years is truly a gift.
You good-naturedly, often humorously, disclose certain physical and emotional challenges you experience. Those challenges will prove no match for the spirit and determination revealed in your articles. Lucky for us writing is first on the list of what you want most to do. Though I’m betting you find ways to do it all.
Your wit and wisdom brightens my day every time and gives me something to chew on. Thank you for the thoughtful, inspiring, potent words. Right on target, as always. Much gratitude! Beth

Wishing you an early Happy Birthday Beth. From your former neighbor and also a February birthday person!
