such a positive piece and personal. It's a gamble. Some people handle gambling well and others want none of it like Daniel. Personal risk. Well done Beth.

Thank you. I think the gambling bit has reached rough rough proportions. Hard to stay an invisible course. She is so talented. She will thrive.

Thank you for this realistic and hopeful piece!

I feel so comforted each time I read your 3 closing words, "On we go......"

Says everything.

Sad, savvy piece. The Studio System has haunted LA, even after it was broken open by the independent filmmakers of the Late 60"s and 70's. Universal still screwed its stars and producers by double and triple charging them for 'holds' on sound stages; so 3 production companies were paying for the same space at the same time. James Garner heart attack was due to his profits from his series being stolen and denied. They did this to Peter Falk; to everyone and anyone. This was the style. And the stink, stuck. Greed, avarice and pettiness has devastated the industry as much as the natural disasters. We must rise from the ashes... like the Phoenix.

Yes we really must. I wish I could say that all the suffering has brought out the best in our industry but it most certainly has not. i am praying that this last disaster breaks something open in their hearts. xoxoxo

All I can say this made me feel less alone, tremendously so. that the question posed is something I think about, and have thought about, almost every day for the last few years. It’s crazy how we just consider all of it normal, that we decide to ignore the fact that things are no OK for the sake of not complaining. It’s everywhere, in every part of life as we know it now. It sucks but it also comforting to know that others are in such a place. What we had years ago, even today, is never guaranteed to last and although we can try an make the best of things: adapt, overcome, change trails in life, it is still ok to feel helpless and defeated

A sobering, yet beautifully empathetic, account of how individuals are dealing with the profound consequences of this unimaginable disaster. Hopefully there will be many others who like yourself will have the heart to speak loudly about the life-changing, gut-wrenching choices people are being forced to make on a daily, if not hourly, basis. I pray that policy makers will be blessed with wisdom and foresight. Please God make them care.
