Beth -- I’ve had 2 dogs go over Rainbow Bridge. I held them both in their final minutes. The pain of this kind of loss is unique. It never really goes away. It pulsates, even when you embrace a new pet. Their love is bonded forever. So heal and weep in your own time and manner. And when ready, fill the place on your couch and bed and heart with another lucky dog. Love, Robert
Beth I just subscribed to Wit and Wisdom and just read this article about your precious Roxy. I know you still miss your beloved pet even though it’s been a few months. I have a theory about why our best friends are given a much shorter lifespan than most of us. They get all the loving they were put here to do much sooner and much more freely than we humans do. I hope your memories of such an amazing dog are now bringing you sweet comfort.
I am so sorry about your loss! Our furry friends are more family than the human kinds sometimes. She will be the angel on your shoulder everywhere you go.
We have had to put down several cats and as many dogs over the years. They are our furry children.
Just about one - Our cat Dora came to us from a shelter where she had been for 5 years, after being feral several years before that. She seemed to have lost hope that she would get a home, but we adopted her and had her for 7 years. She adored her, cuddled with her and made her feel special to the very end. She died in 2021. We had a 7 foot tall Native American warrior carved in her honor by two Native Americans with chainsaws. Dora’s tribute stands on our covered patio as a guardian to the ferals in the yard under our protection. The video is on my Facebook page.
I will say we have another tradition with pets. We buy nice large wind chimes after they pass, and with either black or silver Sharpie we write messages to them on the wind chimes. We imagine that the wind carries our messages to them and the chimes ring is their return message to us. It helps in the silence of a lost pet.
You were a wonderful mother to Roxy and she definitely knew it. Our time with them is fleeting but that is why I try to cherish everyday I see our current pets. We have 3 indoor and care for 10 outside ferals. ❤️
Dear Beth, I am so sorry. We choose love knowing one day that the love will leave this earthly plane and become part of our spiritual being. Grief is the transition. M.A.S.H. took care of my dear Fluffy cat in her last illness, and I will be forever grateful to them.
Hi Beth I am so sorry. I have grieved more for my Berner rescues than some family members.🙃 But It is the worst , but know the tears will turn to smiles and giggles and stories when you think of Roxy. Look for a sign she made it over the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge / it will bring you comfort and joy!
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss, I went through the same thing on Wednesday. I, however, knew that it was coming, eventually, because she had cancer. But the ending was so much worse than I could’ve imagined. People will tell you to be grateful, think on the bright side but that’s too hard right now. It’s awful and just writing this comment has brought me to tears again.
A few things I know, I’d find her over and over again because this kind of connection isn’t just fate — it’s so natural. This grief is also the purest form of it too. My Vixen was the bravest being I have ever encountered in my entire life. Even to the end. She was my first to ever go through this process with too, and my support animal. So when I say I understand, I do.
I am sending you all the love I can. May you find each other again.
Oh Toni. I am so sorry for the loss of your Vixen. It doesn't matter if you know it's coming it is still excruciating when it does. Roxy and I were as close as two creatures could be and that gives me some comfort. I am sending you love toy and Vixen.
Beth, my heart goes out to you. Roxy was indeed a sweet loving girl! I know exactly what you’re going through. Sending love and positive thoughts to you.
So sorry for your loss💙☘️💚

I really feel they did their best by us and I trusted them completely. A terrible time made beautiful too.
